You know the drill… You have a long New Year’s resolutions list and then absolutely nothing happens and that list gets lost in the back of a drawer in your office. Been there, done that.
However, this all changed once I figured out the way to stick to my New Year’s resolutions list. The best part? It works and it doesn’t require much of you besides a little bit of discipline
especially in the beginning. But wait! It is easy, and worth it.
I don’t know if I have ever told you guys, but I am Brazilian and I have a Portuguese (language) YouTube Channel, as well as a website and a Law Of Attraction Coaching business. But the whole point to this is to tell you that I am all about Self-Discipline, Personal Development and all things wellness.
So trust me when I tell you that I have been there, I’ve written several New Year’s Resolutions lists and kept rewriting them as the
New New Year comes. But it can be changed!
Are you ready for The Perfect Guide To Stick To Your New Year’s Resolutions?
1 – WRITE YOUR GOALS DOWN
First things first, you have to write your goals down. You need clarity in your life and just “memorizing” your goals will not be enough, and you know it. Make sure you are in a relaxing environment with
a glass of wine everything you need to be in a good mood, free of distractions, and oh… Definitely put your phone away.
Grab a notebook or a piece of paper and write down all you want to accomplish for the next year, one goal at the time (like a grocery list). Write everything that comes to your mind, everything that you think is important for you next year. This is the first step.
2 – ORGANIZE YOUR GOALS
Now that you know everything you want to accomplish the following year, grab another sheet of paper and separate your goals in long-term and short-term. This will allow you to follow the next steps more easily.
Knowing what’s short and long-term is essential for you to actually do something about your goals and dreams. Organization is key, my love.
3 – CREATE YOUR PLAN OF ACTION
Every goal has other small little goals that need to be achieved in order for you to actually accomplish the end goal. For instance, if you want to lose weight, you have to first do some type of exercise (move your body!), choose healthier foods, pick a diet that will be your lifestyle for that year, control your macros/calories (if needed), and so on.
Those are all tiny goals that make the end goal more achievable.
If you just think about – LOSE WEIGHT – you will get lost, you won’t know exactly what to do and how to achieve it. That’s why creating a plan of action is really important in this phase, or you’ll give up before even starting, and you don’t want to do that
4 – START EASY AND MOVE YOUR WAY UP
Let’s start slow! The worst thing you can do is to pretend you are a super-human that can do it all and start doing everything at once.
This is a recipe for disaster.
Start with the easiest tiny-goal and move your way up to the hardest one. Why, you ask? Because whenever we accomplish something in life, it gives us motivation to keep moving forward.
If you start with the hardest goal, it will be more difficult to achieve it, therefore you might end up giving up or giving you an excuse that this is not for you right now. We need to be honest with ourselves!
5 – BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS
No one is going to do that for you. If you want to change, you have to do it or yourself, and preferably by yourself. Depending on other people will only lead you to failure. You want to be responsible for your own success!
This will build confidence and improve your self-esteem, which are two things that will make you achieve even more goals in the next years!
