Here’s Why You Don’t Need Foundation

A few posts ago, I explained everything about Foundation to you. We’ve gone through types of foundation, coverage, tone, color and it was awesome. However, let’s be honest.. Do you really need a foundation in your beauty routine? The truth is… Most people don’t need foundation. It sounds crazy but it’s true! Here’s why you don’t need foundation in your makeup routine.

Let’s take a look at this lady, for instance. She has some spots here and there, some dark circles and a few areas that are redder than the rest of her face. She doesn’t need a full face of foundation! In fact, she can get away with a tinted moisturizer or BB Cream that has sun protection. Our skin needs to breathe and applying foundation where we don’t need is just silly. We should be proud of the skin we have and not cover it just because. This lady from the photo above just needs a little bit of concealer here and there and leave the rest of her face bare! Which is the key to natural makeup that will look good under any light!

Now if you suffer from acne, especially cystic acne around your face, you may need a little bit more coverage to cover your spots. And trust me, I’ve been there. And this is not a matter of hiding your acne to make sure no one sees it. it’s a matter of how you feel. If you don’t feel confident going out without makeup, please feel free to apply a full face of it!

However, even this lady can get away with applying a little bit of high coverage foundation over her spots and leave other parts lighter, to achieve a more natural look. And always use spot concealing instead of high coverage whenever you can! It’s a way to trick the eye into thinking your skin is flawless without the need of a full coverage foundation.

So yes, that’s why you don’t need foundation in your makeup routine. It’s a matter of finding the best products that will look natural (skin-like finish), and letting your skin breathe whenever it’s possible. Concealer will be your best friend, and if you want a light coverage, a BB Cream or a tinted sunscreen will be your best friends!
